Ashtanga Yoga method is universal, it is not mine or yours. That method is perfect, it is complete. Ashtanga Yoga is yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, samadhi - these are the eight steps which make up Ashtanga Yoga method. But first you take asana: “āsanaṃ prāṇasaṃrodhaś pratyāhāraś ca dhāraṇām, dhyānaṃ samādhir etāni ṣaḍaṅgāni prakirtita” (śandilya) upanisads are telling: first you start asana, asanas are your foundation.
Ashtanga mysore season is starting next week. Obviously, we all will see this guy, Prakash, in front of KPJAYI. :D
If this man ever takes a sleep in, we may finally have a day of late practice!! Yes, Prakash controls the gates to the Ashtanga Yoga Nilaya. At 34 married with 4 kids in Nepal, Prakash landed this job in 2008 and has been dedicatedly guarding the Shala.
He feels blessed to have met people of different nationalities without travelling. But, the best aspect of his day is playing with Sambhav.(Sharathji’s son) When the Shala closes however, he likes to return to his kids.
